We are living in an age of 24-hour entertainment, in which there is no opportunity to ever be bored. Whether you are into gaming, listening to music or watching the latest TV shows that stream online, there is a world of entertainment at your fingertips just waiting to be consumed. But enjoying all these forms of entertainment always hinges on the sound quality of the media you are engaging with. If you want to enjoy gaming, music, or TV anywhere and at any time, it's a very good idea to invest in a portable speaker. With so many different brands to choose from, such as Bang & Olufsen (B&O), what do you need to look for to make sure you are picking the right portable speaker for your needs?
Batteries and charging
There are many cheap portable speakers on the market, and they might even have impressive sound quality, but what if you only manage to get through an hour of playback before the speaker dies? In that case, you wouldn't even be able to watch through one whole film before the sound cuts out. These days, it's possible to find speakers that can last up to 11 hours on one single charge, but you should be looking at 6 hours as a minimum. Also, pay attention to the amount of time it takes for the speaker to reach one full charge.
Weight and size
The idea of a portable speaker is that it should be small and light enough for you to carry around with you but it should still be able to pack a punch in terms of sound quality. Some portable speakers on the market, however, are actually quite cumbersome and heavy. Before you commit to a purchase, you should have an idea of the maximum weight that you are looking for. For example, if you want to carry around a speaker in your backpack you should be looking for something very lightweight, whereas you could manage something heavier if you want to take something with you in your car.
These days technology is so advanced that it can actually be intimidating. It might seem appealing to purchase speakers that have a hundred different features, but is that actually what you need? What you really want portable speakers to do is to pair with your device quickly, be able to play and stop and for the volume to be turned up and down easily. As long as these controls are simple to use, you shouldn't need much more in terms of functionality.
Follow this advice and you'll be able to purchase the perfect portable speaker for you.
